Dells Raceway Park Announces Preliminary Super Late Model Schedule for 2012

The successful partnership between Dells Raceway Park and the Super Late Model group of the Alive For Five Series from 2011 will parlay into another five-race series in 2012.

The group will race under a new moniker this upcoming season. Headed by Driver Representative Tom Litchtfeld, the group will be referred to as The Unified Northern Drivers Racing Association or TUNDRA Super Late Models.

At a meeting in November, representatives from approximately 20 Super Late Model teams met with representatives from Dells Raceway Park to discuss the future of the partnership. It was determined at the meeting to keep along the same path for 2012. Teams again agreed they wished to keep to a limited schedule this season.

TUNDRA Super Lates are slated to make their 2012 debut at Dells Raceway Park on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26. Keeping along the schedule lines from last season, TUNDRA Super Lates will be a part of the June 30th North American Cup race day and will also appear on July 21, August 11 and Championship Night, September 8.

Dates may be subject to change prior to the start of the 2012 season.

In contrast to last season, fans will be treated to two classes of Late Models when TUNDRA Super Lates are in town. The weekly Late Models will also be in action providing fans a chance to see their local heroes and the out-of-town Super Late Model travelers on the same night.

As they continue to grow, TUNDRA Super Late Models plan on creating their own Web site and logo shortly after the New Year. There will also be a meeting for Super Late Model teams to finalize rules in the coming months.

Dells Raceway Park's 2012 opening date is set for Saturday, May 19. Open practice days are preliminarily scheduled for Saturday, May 5 and Saturday May 12. A full 2012 DRP schedule is being finalized and will be released in late January or early February.
