Landon Cling Battles For Solid 2nd Place Finish in PASS Race at Anderson
The Arizona native continues on his war path of success with a 2nd place finish at Anderson Motor Speedway for the July 3rd running of the PASS South Firecracker 150. Cling and the #29 Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR) Checkered Flag Foundation Dodge team continued their momentum from their recent win at South Boston Speedway. Cling said, “We had another successful race for our Brad Keselowski Racing Checkered Flag Foundation Dodge.” Cling continued, “It is awesome that we are getting consistent finishes each week.”
Cling began the weekend with a strong practice run, giving him and the team positive feedback for Tuesday’s race. Cling added, “We ran competitive lap times during our practice session at Anderson.” Cling made a good qualifying run, starting him in 5th position. The top 10 qualifiers were given the opportunity to re-draw their starting position, and that officially put Cling in 9th for Tuesday’s starting grid. Cling said, “We had a good qualifying run, but was not worried when we re-drew 9th.”
Cling started the race smooth, as he saved his equipment for the last half of the race. He proved to be the strongest car as he eased his #29 BKR Checkered Flag Foundation Dodge into the first position; holding a strong lead. Cling took the honor of leading the most laps of 66.
As the 127 lap re-start reared its head, Cling battled the second place car for first position. The excitement brought the fans to the edge of their seats as Cling fought tooth and nail. The #29 brought home a strong 2nd place finish; complimenting his recent win.
The unique design of the track brought close, competitive short track racing; as fans were additionally treated to the Zambelli fireworks show presented by Bio Specialists. The field had a stellar turn out, which added to Cling’s 2nd place finish. The sophomore season driver is building a strong plate for the 2012 season, and is proving to be a force to reckon with. Team manager Gary Crooks added, “I’m very proud of Landon. He is becoming a consistent contender for wins week in and week out. That is all you can ask for.”
