Tundra Super Lates Get Boost, Logo for 2012 DRP Season
Cash and Contingencies Adding Up
The Unified Northern Drivers Racing Association (TUNDRA) Super Late Models are gaining momentum going into the 2012 Dells Raceway Park season. Leading the charge are two familiar faces, 2011 Alive For Five Champion Frank Kreyer and Tom Lichtfeld.
Lichtfeld has been busy chatting with drivers and working with new Dells Raceway Park owner Wayne Lensing. TUNDRA Super Lates will boost the feature lap count from 55 to 80 this season with a break at the midway point for drivers to make adjustments.
Also, to promote competition, TUNDRA will allow Super Late Models to utilize four-barrel carburetors at each race. Lensing feels this will promote more side-by-side competition and put more responsibility on the driver's shoulders.
Meanwhile, Kreyer has been working the marketing angle for TUNDRA. Recently, with the help of Travis Dassow of TD Graphics, Kreyer created a logo. The new TUNDRA logo will displayed prominently on each Super Late Model at DRP this season.
Kreyer has also been hard at work locking in such sponsors as Advanced Engine Concepts, Bonafide Safe and Lock, Water Furnace, Eagle Jet International, Super Star Motorsports, Wegner Automotive Research, Coleman Racing Products and Tiry's Race Engines.
Thanks to the partnership with these companies (and several pending), the total purse for the Super Late Model races has more than tripled. Drivers who participate in the initial buy in ($1000 for the five-race series which covers a total of 12 tires and 20 pit passes) will be eligible for total winnings of $1,100 in cash and expenses covered in each race. Any racer that starts the feature will be eligible for $550 in cash and expenses covered in each race.
Drivers who were unable to get into the top seven last year will have a chance to receive extra payoff, as well, as the payoff now extends through the feature into the top ten spots of the last chance race.
A large list of contingency partners will be announced within the next week.
Super Late Model drivers and teams are encouraged to contact Tom Lichtfeld at 608-697-5341 or Frank Kreyer at 608-445-9924 to join TUNDRA or for any questions.
