Landon Cling Confidently Heads to Orange County Speedway This Weekend
The #29 of Landon Cling and the Brad Keselowski Racing Checkered Flag Foundation Dodge team will make their way to Rougemont, NC this weekend. Orange County Speedway will be the 4th stop on the PASS South Tour for the April 21st PASS Orange Blossom Special. Cling said, “This weekend will be the first time that I have been to Orange County Speedway. That doesn’t mean we won’t run well or contend for the win. I want to feel out the track, get comfortable, and get the swing of things.”
Nestled in the heart of North Carolina, the South Eastern track has been a persuasive tease to drivers for 52 years. The 3/8 mile oval challenges drivers on every 16 and 19 degree turn. Cling’s crew chief John Killen said, “We have great momentum going into the PASS Orange Blossom Special. This will be Landon’s first visit here, but I am confident that he will have a great weekend.” The Arizona native has had a successful 2012 season with a 9th place finish at Dillon Motor Speedway and a recent 2nd place finish at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Cling currently sits 2nd in the PASS South Series as well as the PASS National standings. He is only 10 points away from first place in the Pass South Series and a close 2 points away from first position in the PASS National Standings. Cling said, “We are sitting 2nd in the PASS point’s standings. I want to stay consistent throughout the season with strong finishes to hold our top position. It is early in the season and not worried, as long as we are close.”
When one reminisces on their junior and senior year of high school, the memories of prom always seem to linger in the conversation. This weekend, Cling’s high school prom memories will be of his dance around Orange County Speedway for the PASS Orange Blossom Special. Cling said, “Prom really isn’t a big deal to me, and will cross that off the list of school activities for the year.”
Team manager Gary Crooks reflects on this weekend, “I am looking forward to this weekend and improving on last weekend’s results. I don’t expect anything less than a championship effort. We have the equipment, the people, and the talent is there. Landon hasn’t tested there before, but I don’t see any of that being an issue.”
