Is PASS Turning Into the Bully on the Block?
Recent news from PASS received tonight indicates that PASS is now moving to encroach on the many series’ that promote late model racing.
PASS can do whatever they want to do, because it is a free country. But this just may be too far for many of us to take. First, they try to go after CRA’s domain, now they are going after NASCAR Whelen Home Tracks as well as the UARA and Southeast Limited touring series programs. As we have learned in government, anytime there is a monopoly in business only that business thrives – here it will be the drivers, fans and tracks that suffer.
Without choice or competition, no one wins but PASS. They are seeking to control the fairness, price and ability to promote in short track racing.
In this economic state where some of NASCAR’s home tracks are having a hard time surviving, this is type of action by one, single group will only hurt the development of local tracks. If PASS becomes the only series that rents tracks for races, if they become the only series to race with, all of our racing futures are left up to one group.
PASS cannot race at these weekly late model tracks every week. By them trying to pull car count away from these tracks, it spells disaster for most. From the sales of hot dogs to the people that take race pictures to the fans that want to watch a weekly series – PASS is starting a path that may be the erosion of short track racing as we know it.
