Ronnie Bassett Jr. will be back behind the wheel of his Bassett Gutters & More Ford featuring a new paint scheme this weekend at Caraway, a track that holds special memories for the Bassett family.

Coming off his win at Newport for TDR, driver Ronnie Bassett Jr. and his team had little time to celebrate as there was lots of work to be done to get his back-up car ready for the UARA-STARS Racing Electronics 150 at Caraway Speedway this weekend.

The Bassett Racing team had their primary car fixed at Performance Center after it was destroyed in June and got the bare chassis back just before Newport. Without sufficient time to put the car together, the team opted to race their back-up car at Caraway. Thus far “Blackie”, named for its black chassis, has taken the checkered flag in every race she ran this season. The back-up car, “Casper”, has not been so fortunate. With a runner up at Rockingham and 12th place finish in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, the team is hoping the get their first victory with the car this weekend. The team worked vigorously until 4 o’clock Friday morning finishing the car and Bassett Jr. was able to get some laps in this weekend during test sessions.

The driver was confident stating, “We had a great test day. The car was good on old tires, can’t wait to put some fresh Goodyears on and see what we’ve got.” This weekend’s race will mark the first visit since 2008 for the UARA tour, yet Bassett Jr. last raced at Caraway in 09’ running a limited late model five times, collecting a victory in his third start, before moving on to the late model stock tour full time for the 2010 season.

Heading back to Caraway with the UARA-STARS holds extra meaning to Bassett Jr. as his father, Ronnie Bassett Sr., raced several divisions prior to moving up to late models between 2002-2006 at their home track and collected numerous victories. Although younger brother Dillon carries his father’s number, Ronnie Bassett Jr. hopes he can get his father’s name back in victory lane. Bassett Jr. proved in Newport that is was not just his car that could win races, as he had a new look in the TDR #2.

This weekend the #04 Bassett Gutters & More Ford will feature a new paint scheme as the team seeks to change their back-up car luck.

Keep up with @Bulldog_04 and @BassettRacing1 on Twitter later this week for unveiling of the new scheme.
