Chase Elliott Tames The Stadium In K&N Pro Series East Practice
Fastest In Both K&N Pro Series East Practice Sessions
A winner last time out at Iowa Speedway, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points leader Chase Elliott is off to a fast start at Bowman Gray Stadium in advance of tonight’s NASCAR Hall of Fame 150.
Elliott, from Dawsonville, Ga., piloted the No. 9 Aarons/HendrickCars.com Chevrolet to a fast lap of 14.568 seconds (61.779 mph) in the first 45-minute session of the afternoon. He then topped that in the second 45-minute practice with a series-leading lap of 14.359 (62.678 mph).
Elliott will look for his first career K&N Pro Series East pole award in qualifying later today at 6:15 p.m. His practice laps exceeded the time of Coleman Pressley’s pole-winning effort in last year’s inaugural event at the quarter mile of 14.772 (60.926).
Following Elliott on the speed chart in first practice was Brett Moffitt (14.572/61.762), Carlos Iaconelli (14.636/61.492), Sean Caisse (14.640/61.475) and Bryan Ortiz (14.647/61.466).
In the second session Sergio Pena (14.388/62.552), Corey LaJoie (14.402/62.491), Iaconelli (14.408/62.465) and Brandon Gdovic (14.434/62.353) brought home the top five.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 is set to go green at 8 p.m.
