New Senoia Raceway Season Celebrated this Saturday
New Senoia Raceway will officially close the 2011 racing season this Saturday with the inaugural season celebration and awards ceremony at 3:00pm. The top ten competitors in the final point standings for the five weekly New Senoia Raceway stock car racing divisions.
“We wanted to celebrate our second season with an appreciation gathering at the speedway,” explained promoter Tim Moses. “We wanted the drivers to be able to bring along their families, crew members, friends and fans. We wanted everyone who wanted to be a part of honoring the season’s best drivers to be able to come out and enjoy the fun. Being able to do this at the track makes it easy for everyone to be here.”
The gates to the grandstand will open up at 2:00pm this Saturday, October 22nd. The awards ceremony will begin at 3:00pm. In addition to the awards for the top competitors in the Mike Wheeler’s Automotive & Transmission Late Models, Crown Security Crate Late Models, Newnan Bonding B Cadets, Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks and Mini Stock divisions, the track will make presentations to the ‘Most Improved’ drivers; ‘Tough Luck’ competitors; ‘Hard Charger’ award; ‘Best Appearing Car’ award and ‘Sportsman of the Year’ award. The track will be providing food and beverages for those attending.
“We will also be presenting the drivers with the point fund bonuses they earned this year,” added Moses. “This was something new for many of the drivers in our area and they seem to be looking forward to receiving a little extra money for finishing among the top ten in their respective divisions.”
The 2011 racing season saw over 270 different drivers compete on the 3/8ths mile clay track just west of Senoia on Georgia 16. Fifty of those competitors will share the nearly $10,000 in point fund bonuses that will be awarded this Saturday during the afternoon ceremony.
