Live Pit Stops as USAR Pro Cup Invades Dillon Motor Speedway
Walls Roofing UCAR Clash also on the race card for April 16th
The USARacing Series (USAR) will visit Dillon Motor Speedway for the first time in track history on April 16 for the USAR Pro Cup 250. Walls Roofing UCAR Clash will join them for the event.
Not only will this be the first time the series will make an appearance at the 4/10 mile track, but it will be the first time fans will see live pit stops. Besides Darlington Raceway, this will be the first of its kind in the Pee Dee area.
“Dillon Motor Speedway is very excited and honored to host a USAR event,” Owner Ron Barfield said. “We think it will be an event that our fans will love and look forward to seeing. The USAR has fantastic races at every track they visit, and we should get the same result at Dillon Motor Speedway.”
Fans will get to see a full pit crew jump over the wall to change tires, make adjustments, and fuel the car. This will certainly impact the race as drivers and crew chiefs will have to make decisions on when to pit and what adjustments to make.
“The live pit stops that are going to take place are going to be amazing,” Barfield said. “It’s something that has never happened in the local scene here in the Pee Dee. The stops should keep the fans on their feet and make the race even more exciting. It will be very interesting to see what kind of adjustments the teams will make as the track conditions will change from late afternoon to early night.”
Dillon Motor Speedway will be the shortest track on the USAR schedule this year. That will make for some excellent racing as the drivers will have to work through lapped traffic. With each corner being different, the drivers will have to be extra careful to not get into another car or lose it coming out of the corners.
The USAR cars will be the fastest cars that the track has ever seen as well. These stock cars have close to 600 HP and they use every bit of it. It will certainly be a site to see as the local Late Models, UCAR Clash and Ford Flatheads will join the series that night as well.
